John Putney is a consultant, marketing strategist and business problem solver whose forty-plus years of experience are split evenly between client and agency sides of the business. John’s history at firms like Gardner, Grey, Tracy-Locke, Ralston, Clorox and Progresso gives him a unique, in-depth understanding of what it takes to make a brand or business successful.
John has been responsible for successful brands from concept through launch, including introducing category leaders like Hidden Valley Ranch Salad Dressing, Progresso Soups, Bank of America Online Banking and the John Deere Lawn & Garden Tractor. He directed break-through campaigns in competitive categories like pet foods, soft drinks, ready-to-eat cereals, frozen foods, men’s grooming aids and OTC pharmaceuticals.
John’s fifteen-year association with Second Wind began when he ran his own award-winning member agency, and continued as he worked with Tony Mikes to develop and present seminars on account planning and promotion, contributed to The Second Wind Newsletter and consulted for Second Wind members on new business and strategic planning.
